Inspired by Tina’s “Red-faced Anger” blog.

956 days ago… in a Milkyway galaxy like this one.

I got very angry once in India… “Dishonorable animal from hell bastards!” I said to one of them with intent of killing him on the spot. His call-sign for me changed from dirty-looks and ignorant-grunts to “sir” with a-tail-between-his-legs smile as he knew his life was in real danger. My friends and dear master Phra Mana were shocked to see my killer eyes for the first time. According to their recollections, they felt my anger standing from the other side of airport security glass. My face was white-cold, that of a serial killer with no touch of red. My posture and behaviors no longer identifiable as Phra Mick.

I literally had enough of India after 3 weeks of constantly running into first-degree graduates of high-precision beggars :- with unparalleled devotion to machination plots, tumbling even those of Batman’s latest Joker. I saw the anger built up many times during the trip and I had always been aware of it… this explosion at Calcutta Airport was no different, but being a little curious about this emotion as it kept knocking on the door for 3 weeks, plus the fact that I had not been angry for 4 years since my monk-hood, I was tired of holding back. So I just let the fire fuel itself and watched what happened. My senses went from calm to hostile-alert, hot and focused. Every thought/plot came to mind were uncaring and destructive. While fixed on the head-gate security I wanted to kill, my eyes quickly swept across the room scanning for weapons and I saw a rifle held by an old guard sitting down. I hate rifles. Its long shaped bullets flip and cut through flesh taring off limbs resulting in quick deaths which I did not want him to experience.

Annoyingly… “Sir please come this way sir. You’ve been cleared sir, please proceed through the gate sir. No trouble sir. Please sir… this way sir… no trouble sir.” they were all shouting. For some magical reason, all the fuss and mishaps leading to some overweight luggage fines payable by cash were dismissed and I was free to go. Fines are a way of life for certain visitors of India, averagely I was fined 0.75 rupee for every breath of air I took. The shouting triggered a memory of a pre-Phra Mick that carried a barrel-rusted 78 year-old Luger9mm Parabellum German-Nazi for looks with a Glock-17 backup about to do something heart-scaring and regrettably stupid. The piano fell on the burning anger and I immediately snapped out of it. I was surprised… often I would need a straight zen to pry out of something this real and deep.

I was very angry for 3 minutes, but it felt like a day. The quantum frequencies of Hell. They say “Time flies when you’re having fun” this was the exact opposite. My shocked friends and master remained shocked long after the anger subsided. There were a lot of data to collect from watching the anger. The fire beautiful, selflessly accelerating towards thoughts of strategy, weaponry and war, similar to Bruce Lee’s statement “It hits all by itself”. It was making me clear, making me fly but burning holes in my friends’ hearts and not to mention browned up the inner-pants of one Indian man. The fall from the height of it was painful and the repercussions were long lasting. However, it would not be the last time I tasted this emotion.

I later found out I was one of the ones who helped invaded and looted the country. Belittled its people, meddled with their ways of life, conquered them, used them as servants and shitted all over the whole damn place. A Imperialic Karma paid only a fraction of the price.

So by realising this balance, it was easier for me to understand and let go of future annoyances. It ended the “why me” in the mind.

Quite often we’re told to purify the mind. To slow down the jumping is to relax, to rest… then insert some programs like bliss, peace, harmony and some questions leading to acceptance, wisdom, understanding, etc… before releasing it back into the wild again. Every mind needs cleaning. Even the Mind of an Arahant which has fully realised and accepted its own nature would still need to perform these maintenances – in order to stay alert, positive and compliance to the traffic laws of karma.

Cleaning of the mind isn’t a new concept. It has been performed for as long as time itself… with so very few minds ever to realise and accept the truth. Purification is a tool towards Enlightenment, but it isn’t THE tool.

Instead… a realisation that the Mind itself is its own worst enemy… its very own engine of pain and suffering IS the tool. Because for the first time, “Good” isn’t good. The light bulb that we have been juggling in our hands is finally HOT! It is NOT any cooler than before. It had always been HOT HOT HOT!, but we were eluded to believe that it was good, to hold on to it, to teach it, clean it and care for it. But for the first time the Mind realises that IT (the five aggregates) is heavy, suffering and unsatisfiable.

Jump, jump, jump… eyes => ears => emotion => thought => emotion => nose => emotion => feel => thought => thought =>emotion => recall => emotion => thought => meditate => emotion, jump, feel, jump, jump, feel, jump, etc… never in one state long, constantly changing, jumping, suffering, thinking without order, recalling without command, suffering without anyone’s authority.

“Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! Oh boy oh boy oh boy OH BOY AHHHHHHHHHHH!” It lets go… all by itself.

So what now?
Does it cease to function? No…
It still sees, hears, smells, touches, tastes, thinks, recalls and feels.
It still calculates, meditates, and cleans.
The difference is that it knows what it is.
It is awake.

Like Bonsai trees that memorizes each shape of its containment for short periods of time… several identical shapes later and its memories will strengthen. Such is called “Training of the Mind”. The new habits gradually encode themselves into the neural-pathways of the brain training the robot as it goes along. Even hair that gets combed the same way everyday is being trained. That said… all memories are impermanent.

So ‘yes’ the mind can be trained… and all trainings will disintegrate.
Which brings us to our topic.

from black to white…

from right to wrong…

from good to bad…

back and forth and back and forth…

The hardest catch is the differentiation of the calculus curve or the middlest point of the swinging motion.
The centre.

A common Jedi practitioner would no doubt force himself / herself to veer towards the light, the good and the right – avoiding the dark, the bad and the wrong. Same as any other told-tales of heroes vs. villains. Where there is good, there is bad.

But what is Good and what is Right?
Good and right depend entirely on where you were born, in what group collective and more importantly, when.
To find out… try asking a few Jews who survived the Holocaust during German Occupation “Why were the colors of your eyes and hair illegal? And are they still?”

Sometimes what we believe to be Good… isn’t good.
And here’s another damn good example:
A great hermit who visited the young prince Sidhatha soon after his birth, looked at him with tears of sorrow. “Why are you crying?” Asked the King. “I cry because I know that I will never hear the teachings of this great master.” Said the hermit while staring at the baby prince. Later after the young prince was enlightened, he went searching for his teachers whom he compelled to repay for their kindness and compassion (one of them happened to be the above mentioned hermit), and discovered that they have both passed away, entering into a heaven frequency called “The Aru-pa-jhanna” dimension. “Goodness me!” Said the Buddha. “Both of my teachers are totally screwed!”

The Aru-pa-jhanna frequency is classified as a heaven dimension of anti-matter existence. Triggered by the same idea as Nibbana, the practice is to evade becoming. To meditate on nothing. To become nothing. To no longer exist. But the self and the NEED TO BE weren’t dealt with in its entirety, and therefore still rooted. In other words… they will attached to Nothing. The extensive time one gets caught in this temporal Nexus plus the total failure of communication in said dimension meant that the Buddha could never reach any of his teachers in his lifetime. Hence he slanged the term “totally screwed!” (ship-hai-lawe in Thai)

One should think all Heavens are good for you eh?… apparently not so.

Continue to Part 2…

.

Just as we are powerless in commanding a mango tree to ripen its fruits, the skies to pour down rain, ordering a Lotus to blossom or bending laws of nature to our liking. The consequences and outcomes of Universe are often unknown to us. An old monk was once invited to give a talk on the subject at Buddhist University, Bangkok.

His talks were quite fast, spontaneous, non-stop and based entirely on his own experiences. Half way through the talk however, he lost his frame of thought and a lengthy awkward silent filled the entire lecture hall. Realising his derailment, he looked up at the audiences who stared back at him in surprise. “What the hell was I babbling about just then?“

Right there and then his mouth stretched out a smile and tears rolled down his eyes. “I’m freed.” he whispered… then went on to finish up his talk.

“You never know when or where it will happen.” He said. “Because as a Buddhist, we can only plant the seed, pave the path and set the course. The moments of the accorded effects are not up to us.”

.

Eyes give me the best sense of authentication when it comes to the practice.
Check out “The Eyes” for past reference.

Because evidently, our monkey eyes operate automatically and constantly. As much as some audiences I have encountered in the past denied this idea, claiming that their eyes do not move at all during open-eyed meditation. I am however, more fortunate that I have an eye injury.

Eyes have the function to scan for new and fun things, while the mind picks up information and perceive, experience, feel, pass judgment, scrutinize, move-towards or run-away. Luckily for me… on my last trip to Maylaysia, while sitting on the plane I saw some beautiful clouds in the sky. Staring at them from my window I noticed something strange in my vision. Worms!

Ever tried staring at something for so long you feel like your eyes haven’t moved? Like in open-eye meditation? Well our eyes may appear that way, but the very TINY movements which escapes human detection still exist (check out the video). At first I thought the parasites were throwing a party in my eyeballs… but as I looked out of the plane’s window and kept my vision locked tight at the clouds, I recalled who the three disco worms were.

You see, during my time in the workforce, I picked up three scratches in my right retina and I had forgotten about them, but apparently something cotton-candy blue like the clouds & skies bring them to light. I experimented further with more controlled-staring and eyeball-locking. And finally I thanked the three dancing worms (retinal scratches).

.

.

Wanna see your own eyes move by themselves even when you thought you had them under your control? Put 3 scratches in your retina (DON’T DO THAT) and find out the hard way.

.

Another old master of my teacher once entered the forest to meditate. He refrained from food and intentionally tortured his body by putting it through excessive bush trekking. He became lost in the woods after 3 days, having been constantly exposed to forestial monsoon, a serious cold and a life threatening lung infection overwhelmed him.

Retreating into a cave, believing his death was imminent… he contemplated on his final attachments. He was not attached to worldly possessions, family, worry nor fear. He felt at peace. However, deep down, he also did feel a struggle within that peace. Spending what he believed to be the last moment of his life monitoring his mental activities, he realized he was attached to Nothing. Not wanting this… nor that… but wanting [Nothing]. A clear intent and struggle, a figment of delusion and Self.

“Enlightenment cannot be made happen by you” said the master who survived his lung infection. “Since no one is enlightened, but the mind. Therefore it is not ‘you’ who sees truth of nature, but it is the mind that realizes it.”

SUMEDHA, the wise man inherited a vast fortune from his parents who left them upon their deaths. Realizing the unsatisfactoriness he gave away his fortune and became an ascetic in the forest. He soon gained mastery in meditation and was well known for his supernormal powers.

He was still repairing it when the Buddha arrived but he was determined to complete it by prostrating himself into the muddy hollow, in fulfillment of his vow to become a Buddha. Beside him was a young lady named Sumitta bearing eight stalks of lotus flowers. She gave the Ascetic five stalks and kept for herself three stalks for her own aspiration. When the Buddha Dipankara saw this, He omnisciently declared the Ascetic Sumedha a future Buddha, while He stated that the aspiring young lady Sumitta would be his constant companion and helpmate.

After hearing and turning down their pleas, Buddha returned to Vesali for the Rains Retreat . Undaunted by the rebuff, Maha Pajapati Gotami cut off her hair and wearing yellow garments went on foot to Vesali, accompanied by many other Sakyan ladies. His jealous fellow students poisoned the mind of their teacher against him. As a result the teacher asked Ahimsa for a garland of one thousand right index fingers as tuition fee. Eager to discharge his obligation, he went into the Jalini forest in Kosala and started to waylay the passing travellers to collect an index finger from the right hand of each victim. The garland was almost completed except for one more single finger. Ahimsa decided to kill even his own mother for the sake of completing the one thousandth finger in the garland. However, Ahimsa was intercepted by the Compassionate Buddha who came to his aid. After listening to His preaching and being convinced, Ahimsa now known as Angulimala (garland of fingers ) joined the Sangha and became a Bhikkhu (monk) . The Angulimala Sutta, a discourse ascribed to this Thera (elder/monk) and connected to this event, is well-known in Buddhist countries and often used by pregnant ladies in travail for easy and safe delivery.

Thereupon Maha Moggalana, (the second Chief Disciple) at once transformed himself into a dragon and likewise coiled round the mountain, crushing Nandopananda. He them delivered his last admonition, “Behold, 0 Disciples! I exhort you ! Subject to change are all component things! Strive on with Diligence !” before He entered Maha parinibbana (attainment of Final Emancipation).

Recently Phra Mick went to the land of Oz, and he promised a group of very special sentient that he’d upload the astrology chart together with various elaborations of the twelve animals on this website. So here they are!

Quick Notes: There are at least 3 animals in each person… residing in Year, Month & Hour of birth. Year of each animal begins in March. Therefore should your year land on 1984 (which is Rat), but if your month is February (Tiger), then your ACTUAL animal would be Bore (Pig).

.

To see the Year, Month & Time of Birth Wheel,

To download Animal Explaination Chart,

.

Bare in mind the paramount objectives of this exercise is to grasp the nature of this Selfless Universe. Not to better nor change what we are, but rather to understand & accept nature’s laws in its perfect and harmonious mathematical precision, thus accomplishing peace within its conflicting laws. Often test these theories on the walks of life & questioning ourselves whether these behaviors represent self.

.

What does the Mind aim to see in this self-automated Galaxy?

.

It watches body & mind…
carrying on its usual functions…
and witnessing the usual phenomena;

It follows every action like a good detective at work.
And like clockwork… it ticks forward happily…
at every task it’s been trained to perform.
It even works while the body’s sleeping.
It watches the dreams.
It moves by itself…
It misses no beat.
Or so it thought.
It is satisfied.
Until…

“That was a gooood meditation…”
“Things were clear and definitive!“
“I am H a p p y !“

There!
It sees the Natural Phenomenon…

Now it can finally answer the question “Who am I?“
